E1 Platform

E1 is the first generation Volkswagen SUV platform. The official name for the platform is "PL75".

The Volkswagen Touareg was introduced in 2004 as Volkswagen's first luxury SUV. 2004 model year vehicles were offered with a range-topping V10 TDI engine. This engine is reportedly going to be reintroduced for late model year 2006 or model year 2007.
