A5 Platform

A5 is the 5th generation VW FWD small car platform. The official name for this platform is "PQ35".

In late 2005, the A5 Jetta was released, and in late 2006, the A5 GTI (the sport version of the Golf/Rabbit) was released. For 2007, the Rabbit hatchback (sold in Europe as the Golf) was released.

TDI engines are not available for any 2007 models. However, Volkswagen increased production of 2006 model year Jetta TDIs, to sell into 2007. These vehicles are badged as "Diesel Editions." Available engines are:
