A4 Platform

A4 is the 4th generation VW FWD small car platform.

Riding on it are all New Beetles (as of present, 1998-2006), the late 1999-2006 Golf, and the late 1999-2005 Jetta. A station wagon version of the Jetta is also available, from 2001-2005 in the US, and from 2001-2006 in Canada. (Late 1999 is often called "1999.5". The 1999 versions of the A4 Golf and Jetta are also referred to as the "1999 New Golf" and the "1999 New Jetta".)

For the 2004 model year, the Pumpe-Duese engine was released. It has some different characteristics, many of which cause changes in the necessary oil for the engine.
